Pray for Mexico
I wish our English-speaking friends could read some of the Spanish articles written about the violence here in Tepic. I just finished reading about one of the victims of last Wednesday's massacre. A newly married man who leaves behind his wife who is pregnant with their first child. He was delivering sandwiches and juice to the men at the car wash. Eleven of the fifteen men were recovering drug addicts who were interned at a Christian rehab centre here in town. These killings seem to be intended to send a message that those who try to leave the drug culture will be punished. In this drug war, one thing is increasingly clear-sin and Satan are cruel masters. We are all slaves to someone. May we be bondslaves of Jesus Christ and preach a message of hope to all who will hear.
As you can see from my other posts, even though the violence here has escalated dramatically, we still are able to enjoy the many good things around us. We don't travel around much, but when we do, we are reminded of what an amazing country Mexico is. We are also experiencing much blessing in the church right now, and we are so thankful to be a part of what God is doing here in Tepic. God is in control, and He is good, and everything He does is good. We know that; now we have an opportunity to live like we know it.
